Cheshire East 0-19 Service - One year on

Cheshire East 0-19 Service – One year on

Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating its Cheshire East 0-19 service after supporting over 26,000 children and families in the last 12 months.

Since the trust began delivering the service in October 2015, it has had over 76,000 patient contacts.
Delivered by health visitors, family nurses, school nurses, public health practitioners and health professionals, the 0-19 service helps improve the current and future health and wellbeing of children and young people.

Andrea Johns, Professional Lead for Cheshire East 0-19 Health Visitors said: “Our first year with Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust has provided exciting opportunities to further improve the service we offer to children and families. We’ve taken many positive steps towards providing a fully integrated 0-19 service that sits at the heart of the community and provides support to help all children in Cheshire East have the best start in life.”

Working together with the Cheshire East Local Authority, the service has also launched the Cheshire East Parenting Journey, which maps out how health and social care is delivered jointly at key milestones for 0-5 year olds and their families and carers. The CHERUBS Infant Feeding Team has also received full baby friendly accreditation from UNICEF. And a successful Facebook page, 0-19 Health Visiting Hub Cheshire East has been launched to help parents get easy access to tips and advice.

Here’s what some of the service’s patients had to say:

We thank our lucky stars you are our Health Visitor, we can’t imagine how it would be without you! Since the moment you arrived in our lives we have wanted to say a huge thank you. Thank you for your amazing support to us in our dazed and emotional states! Thank you for being our voice and fighting for us when we felt helpless. Mostly thank you for being lovely, our little girl is lucky to be under your care.”

“Very helpful and friendly service able to set parents at ease and provide advice and support when needed, able to signpost and suggest referral services when needed.”

“Always honest and understanding with all your questions and very patient with all our worries and always makes you feel comfortable”
