DVT Service

DVT Service

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot in one of the deep veins in the body. Each year, one in every 1,000 people in the UK is affected by DVT.

Atrial fibrillation is a heart condition that causes an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate.It is the most common heart rhythm disturbance and affects up to 500,000 people in the UK.

The DVT and Atrial Fibrillation service is led by specialist nurses who provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with suspected DVT and Atrial Fibrillation.

The service is provided in the All Day Health Centre, Arrowe Park Hospital or in the patient’s own home if they are housebound.

Over the Christmas and New Year period, the DVT service will be open as usual.

If you think that you may have deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or Atrial Fibrillation see your GP as soon as possible.
