Celebrating International Nurses day 2015

Nurses from across Wirral Community NHS Trust's joined celebrations as part of International Nurses Day 2015 on 12 May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birthday.

The event 'Nursing – past, present and future' held at Tomorrow's Women Wirral in Birkenhead, brought together nurses across the many specialisms within our community trust, including, Community Nursing, Health Visiting, Heart Support Services, Sexual Health Wirral, Walk-in Centres, Specialist Nursing Services and many more. Practice Nurses employed by GP practices in Wirral also participated in the event.

Joined by inspirational guest key-note speaker Professor Debbie Carrick-Sen from the Florence Nightingale Professor of Clinical Nursing and Midwifery Research, nurses shared the experience and skills they have developed during their nursing careers, the innovative work that they do in the local community every day and their ideas on the future of nursing.

Sandra Christie, Director of Nursing and Performance at the trust said, "I'm incredibly proud to be a nurse and really enjoyed taking this opportunity to hear about and celebrate the fantastic work our nurses do every single day in our community.

All the nurses who work for the trust do an exceptional job all year round and are vital in not only caring for people in their own home or close to home but also in helping the local health and care system meet the increasing and changing needs of patients today.
