It's election time!

We established our Council of Governors two years ago in advance of us becoming a Foundation Trust in May 2016. Since then our elected governors from across Wirral and our staff governors have represented their constituencies, working with the the Trust Board to actively contribute to the future development of the organisation. After two years a number of seats are now available for re-election and our election period begins on Tuesday 3 October 2017.

We’re looking for enthusiastic people from across Wirral to join us as Governors and represent their local areas. We’re holding information sessions for anyone who wants to find out more about what being an NHS Governor involves and how the election process works.

By becoming a governor with Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust, you will represent the interests of your local community and help shape our plans for the future.  There are 5 elected seats available as follows:

Wallasey (1,796) 1

The election will be independently run by UK Engage.

  • governors help set the direction of the organisation on behalf of local people and trust members and oversee the work of the board of directors.  Most governors are elected by trust members.
  • our Council of Governors is made up of 10 elected public and three elected staff governors. Joining them on the Council are six appointed governors, representing organisations with a strong interest in health care on Wirral.
  • any public member aged 16 or older can nominate themselves and stand for election as a public governor.
  • governors don’t need to have any specific qualifications or experience. We will ensure people get the support and training they need to feel confident in the role.
  • we need people who want to make a difference, and who have some time to come to Council of Governor meetings. Governors play an important role and have clearly defined responsibilities.
  • to apply  please complete a nomination form.  To access the online nomination portal or download a nomination form in PDF please  visit pre.ukevote.uk/wirralct.  Nominations may be completed online or returned by post, email or fax.
